Lord Buddha is seated in dhyana asana, the meditative pose also called
padmasana. He has a peaceful contemplative gaze. His hands are in the earth touching gesture also known as
bhumisparsha mudra. The Buddha is always depicted with elongated
earlobes, a vestige of his life as a prince, when he wore extravagant
jewelry. The deep sharp colors of this piece are absolutely stunning.
